This Week's Football Birthdays: May 2nd - May 8th
A number of big football stars celebrate their birthday this week. But who's celebrating and how old will they be?
This post shows you which top footballers have their birthday in the next 7 days.
David Beckham (47)
England's most famous footballer turns 47 on Monday and is still a huge attraction wherever he goes.
Beckham now owns football clubs rather playing for them. And his new MLS team Inter Miami are already making waves with big name signings Gonzalo Higuain and Kieran Gibbs.
Moves for even bigger stars (like Messi and Ronaldo) have been touted for a while now. So we could be at the start of a new, exciting era for Goldenballs and his football empire.
Beckham is shown above on our iconic Football's Greatest card design.
Florian Wirtz (19)
It's fair to say that Bayer Leverkusen have given us some pretty epic midfielders over the years.
The club have given us Michael Ballack, Toni Kroos, Julian Brandt, and Kai Havertz for starters. But if you listen to the German press, Florian Wirtz could be the best yet.
Wirtz already has 10 goals and 14 assists this season. Which isn't too shabby for a player turning 19 on Tuesday. This form has put every top club in Europe on high alert, so don't be surprised if he makes a huge money move soon.
It's only right we've shown Wirtz on our Future Star design this week!
Cesc Fabregas (35)
Given the amount we've seen him as a pundit in big tournaments, it might surprise you that Cesc Fabregas is still a registered player.
Fabregas turns 35 on Wednesday and was comfortably one of the world's best centre midfielders in his prime. Fast forward to 2022 and the former Arsenal and Barcelona star doesn't get many minutes for AS Monaco in Ligue 1.
However, he's signalled a strong desire to go down the coaching path and is already a key part of Monaco's setup in that department. Oh how we'd love to see him emulate his former coach Pep Guardiola in that regard.
We've shown Cesc on a Throwback card dedicated to those amazing days at Arsenal.
Raul Jimenez (31)
Wolves hitman Raul Jimenez turns 31 on Thursday.
The Zorro mask loving striker has blossomed into one of the Premier League's best strikers and a firm legend at Molineux. In addition to an Olympic gold medal and two World Cup appearances (soon to be three) with Mexico.
This birthday will be extra sweet for Jimenez after he suffered a horrible head injury against Arsenal in the first lockdown. We're so glad to see Raul back and scoring, so we've shown him here on a Gold Inform card.
Mateo Kovacic (28)
Chelsea and Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic oozes class. After all, he has a stellar CV in Italy, Spain and England - and 3 Champions League winner medals to boot.
Sure, he hasn't always been a guaranteed starter in Chelsea's studded midfield. But he always delivers when needed - especially in the big games.
Put that all together and we reckon Kovacic as one of the world's most under-rated players. Even better, he's just 28 on Friday! We've shown him here on a classic Shiny Gold card design.
Youri Tielemans (25)
Leicester and Belgium's Youri Tielemans has been one of Europe's best young players for a long time now. And at just 25 on Saturday, he should still have his best years ahead of him.
The main question is where he'll spend them. After all, Tielemans has long expressed a desire to play Champions League football.
You can never rule the Foxes out, it's quite hard to see him doing that with Leicester soon. So after some great seasons at the King Power, we may see Youri head elsewhere and grace Europe's biggest stage.
Tielemans is shown here on our Heroes card design.
Dani Olmo (24)
Next we have Leipzig and Spain midfielder Dani Olmo, who turns 24 on Saturday. Olmo's rise to the top of European football has both a familiar and very different feel at the same time.
Dani came up through Barcelona's famous youth academy - but at just 16 he agreed a move to Dinamo Zagreb. After impressing in Croatia, Olmo was picked up by RB Leipzig and put in some top performances for Spain at Euro 2020.
Can Dani go one better and help his Leipzig side to a Europa League win this spring? We couldn't rule it out. Olmo is shown here on an S22 Signature Star card.
Sandro Tonali (22)
Speaking of young midfielders, how about AC Milan's Sandro Tonali?
Comparisons between Tonali and Andrea Pirlo have been raging for years. After all, they both started out at Brescia and both have an incredible football brain under a mop of black hair.
The comparisons found new weight this season, though. As Tonali has lit up Serie A and could be on course to deliver a title to the San Siro faithful.
It's a real shame Tonali won't grace the World Cup this winter. But at just 22 on Sunday, we should see a heck of a lot more from him. Tonali is shown here on an S22 Achievement Special card.
